BANGKOK

WELCOME TO BANGKOK!
Talk about a city on the move. We arrived early in the am, and decided we were going to hop on the bus and end up in the backpackers area. A little place called Sawasdee. We found it just as we got off the bus actually. It was clean close to the market area, so basically it was perfect. We checked in for only one night as we had already booked a place for the following two nights. Once we dropped our bags off and checked the internet quick we were off. Out to explore the town a bit. We wandered around and found somewhere to eat, then change our money into smaller bills so that we could buy things and eat! lol We sat down at a small cafe area to have a drink and just watch some of the city go by, a woman came up to us trying to sell us stuff, Amy and I said no thanks, just trying to get her to go away, but Lindsay wanted to look at things, so she did and I found a really nice bracelet and the cutest wooden frog that ribbits and sounds like a frog. Then once we started looking another woman came up and started showing things to Amy, as she started to touch things and talk prices the first woman started speaking Thai and ended up pinching Amy on the knee. Apparently these woman don't work together and she was upset that Amy was talking to this other woman when she had been there before. So after a bit of laughing and some tiger balm being rubbed onto Amy's knee we all bought our stuff and off the woman went. By this time it is POURING with rain. We ran back to the hotel to have a dry off and rest a bit before heading back out for dinner.
We found a super nice place right next door. It looked like it would be an expensive place to eat if we were at home, or here in Australia. But in Thailand it cost us about $5 for the whole meal. CRAZY
So the next day we got up and checked out, but kept our luggage there and wandered around the area before heading to the new area. So off we went, we didnt get to far before someone came up to us and asked if we needed some help. After a few mins of talking with him he hooked us up with a Tuk Tuk driver. This driver was going to take us to about 6 different places for only 7 Baht each (which is about .30 cents) So off we went with this guy. We went and saw a few temples including the standing and lucky budda. Then came the catch to this great deal, jewelery shops, travel stores. He told us that he gets tokens for his gas if he takes us to these places, so we went cause we felt a little bad for him. But by the end of the day we had seen 4 of the 6 things we were suppose to see and a few jewelery stores we got dropped off. All in all it was a fun day, we got to drive around on a Tuk Tuk and had a good day, but yeah we did get taken for, but hey it was worth it....for 30 cents.
So once we got back we grabbed out luggage and headed to the hotel we had booked. WOW I think it might have been one of the nicest hotels i have ever been in. Scary though when we arrived a guy went around our cab and looked for bombs. As we checked in they told us that they had to upgrade for some reason. So when we got to our room we ended up each having our own bedroom!!! We had a full kitchen and a washer and dryer (that ended up being a horrible idea to wash our clothing!)
We then explored the hotel a little bit to find we had 2 pools, 1 indoor and 1 outdoor....super fun! We also then found the spa. All three of us decided we were going to have a Traditional Thai Massage the following day, so we booked in. We enjoyed a sleep in, nice breakfast (included of course) then laid around the pool for the day got some sun, I swam then we all headed for our massage. That was an crazy! These tiny Thai ladies were crawling all over us and bending us this way and that way, CRAZY! but felt amazing afterwards. Lindsay and I then went for a swim and decided we wanted a foot massage. So she went and booked us both in for one (amy passed on this one.....i think the Thai massage was enough for her) But again this was an amazing massage. Worth the $10. After the massage we headed up to the room and rested for awhile and then went back down to the pool area and just hung out there, it was so nice and quite. Then it was time for bed cause we had another flight in the morning. This time we were heading to Chiang Mai!!! But first Amy was going to meet up with her friend Colette at the Bangkok Airport. So off to the airport we went and waited for Amy to meet up with Colette then we were leaving the girls and meeting up with them again in Chiang Mai, but silly Amy booked in on the wrong flight, so she ended up flying with us and then the three of us waiting for Colette in Chiang Mai.
