First leg of Southeast Asia trip!
Last day of prac went well....then Amy and I spend the afternoon with Natalie before she headed back to Sydney - then Melbourne to meet up with her parents. Then Amy and I went to the mall and got something to eat and saw a bizzar movie called Snow Cake, it was filmed in Northern Ontario near Waga, kinda nice to see snow and trees......made us feel like we were at home again!!!
Then picked up Lindsay safely. Amy and I went to the airport to pick her up, only to find out her flight was delayed over an hour. Oh well we sat and watched a small part of the world go by. Once we picked her up we went straight back to the hotel and right to bed, at this point it was after 1am. On our way home our taxi driver decided he need to get gas, so in we went but he decided he didn't have to turn the car off....so he left us in a running car while it was filling up with gas....a little scary, i thought Amy was going to jump out of the car! But we made it safely.
Saturday morning we were up nice and early for breakfast, then off to the airport to catch our flight to Kuala Lumpur. Nice short flight and AirAsia was great, we actually left a few mins early and arrived 20 mins early. We then hopped on a bus for an hour to get to KLCentral station. Once there found a train to go to Kuala Lumpur station and to our hotel. It was super nice, an old train station that was convereted into a hotel. Once we got settled in, we headed to China town to find the markets, pretty much everything we found was the same stuff we saw in Penang. We then found a little bar called the Reggae Bar, which Amy just loved! We sat and had a salad (YUM VEGGIES) and then headed back to the hotel for an early night.
Early night means early morning.....well at least for Amy and I. I think Linds could sleep all day give the chance. But we made her get up and we headed out. We went into the CBC area and found the twin towers. We then lined up to get our free tickets to walk across the sky Bridge that links the two buildings on the 41st floor. We got our tickets for later in the day, so we decided we wer going to go to the other tower, the communication tower. It is basically like the CN tower. Really neat t be able to see the whole city from up there. we did one of those cheesy audio tours that tells you all about what you are looking at. Once we were done that we headed back to the Twin towers and had some lunch, and up we went. It was amazing!!
After all of that we were headed to the Batu Caves (where Amazing Race went) It is a place of worship for Hinduism. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! 272 steps to the top and into the caves, with Mokeys all the way up. Once inside it was just breath taking. Monkeys all over the place and just amazing. Out front is this massive statue of one of the Hindu gods.
Then back to the Reggae bar for dinner. Once we finished there we headed back to the hotel for a good nights rest cause it was up and on a plane again this time to Bangkok!
Until next time!
