First day of Prac went well.

Well my first day of prac is over. And thank goodness it is. I was so NERVOUS this morning (and last night). I found the place yesterday so that took a bit of pressure off.
My 'host' teacher is very nice. Not over the top make you feel welcome kinda person, but not a scary person. And that is ok...i would rather that then a scary teacher.
I am in a year 3/4 split. (aka grade 3/4 split) A split class seems to be a big trend here. They have multiple split classes instead of having a full grade class. The kids are great, Marilyn (my host teacher) informed me before classes started that there are a few of behavioral problems with a few of the boys. But nothing major happened today.
So after the day was done, I sat and chatted with Marilyn. We talked about lessons for the week and decided that I am going to teach a maths (yes that is spelt correctly, they add and s to the end of math) class tomorrow. Oh well i guess it's sink or swim time. Then I am going to do a phys ed class and English class on Wednesday. Thursday I am going to be doing an reading lesson and maths lesson. So basically by Thursday I am going to be teaching for the morning (at least from 9-11). Part of me is nervous but the other part is like. DAH you can do this!!! i hope the latter is correct.
So if anyone out there can think of a good Canadian game i can play for Phys Ed, please make a comment or e-mail me. For some reason i can't think of any games to play that are "Canadian"
The kids were funny this afternoon. I had already started to remember some of their names, and they just couldn't figure out how i knew them already. In the first part of the morning i sat in the corner and watched as they worked and made a diagram up. I just listened when Marilyn talked to the kids. However I think if the kids were up and moving around i might not be 100% if i knew their names.
At the end of the day one of the little boys came up to me and said "thank you for all your help today Miss. Pirie, you are a wonderful student teacher" How cute is he!!! It made me realize that this really is the career for me!!!
Until next time.
Love to all
Missing everyone heaps!!
Sarah
