Just an update.....still no pictures

Well yet again I can type that we don't have the internet at home. Our line was finally set up last monday. Which is super great, cause now we at least have that. Again for anyone wanting to call you would dial 01161 242295082 and if you dial 10 15 565 first then it is a really cheap way to call. That is how Lindsay's parents call and apparently it is only $1.00 for 30 mins. After the 30 mins you have to pay a higher rate but you can hang up and call back right away and get the same deal...not too shabby....if it actually works.....

So we got the phone hooked up and Linds went into the store yet again to set up the net, and they were having computer problems so the girl wasn't able to do anything for us. However she did take our number down and tell Linds that she would call as soon as the order went through. And on the following day she did call to say that the order went through and the modem would be mailed out that day. So hopefully it was and we should get it by the end of this week. Just intime for our trip up to Sydney.
This weekend is Cecilia's birthday so we are going to go up and celebrate it with her. Not too sure what is on the docket yet, but i am hoping we can make it to the Zoo on this trip, if not then another time. Cecilia has offered us a place to stay at her parents, so that is good....no extra cost there...maybe we will each buy her a beer or something!!

Classes started today. My schedule isn't great, but it could be worse!!
Mondays 830-330 with a 2 hour break
Tuesdays 830-630 with a 4 hour and 1 hour break
Wednesdays 830-630 with a 3 hour break and 1 hour break
Thursdays 830-11 with no breaks
Friday 830-1030 with no breaks.
So it kinda works out that at least on Fridays i am done super early. And it will force me to get up and stay in a routine. I will also appricate the weekends much more now also!
So day one and we already have 2 assignments that are both due on Friday March 9. I have started working on one of them already.....trying to stay ahead of the ball!!!

Missing everyone like crazy!!!
I can't believe i have been here for 5 weeks already!!! Time is going to fly by......

Well we finally got a phone.....just out of the blue it is up and running. So from dialing from home you would dial 01161 204295082 that will be our number from now on. You know what this means?? that tomorrow Linds can go down and try to get our internet...so not too bad....31 days after we got here!! GEEZ!!!

So i don't have lectures this week. It is another week of orientation.....that sucks, today we went over everything we had done in the first orientation. Linds and i have been talking about maybe going to Sydney for the day this weekend. I am going to wait and see if Cecilia is around first.....but who knows.

Gotta run, we are heading to the 'Gong pub for dinner....don't worry Robert it is a special tonight. Steak with salad for $8.....not too shabby and most likely cheaper then a meal we would make at home.

Well I only have one more day left at Unanderra Primary School. I am going to miss the kids and my teacher. We were talking today and said it would be a better experience and better for me to just stay there for the whole year. I would learn so much more then just sitting in a lecture hall. But I don't think the Uni will go for that...LOL
My teacher is amazing, she let me copy her entire program book for the first term. She has the whole term planned out and now i have a copy of it. It will work as a good example if i ever end up teaching Kindies.
I am going to miss the kids like crazy too, I have gotten attached to them. Maybe not a great idea, since i might not be able to go back there for my next prac, but i am hoping i can.
I was in photocopying her book today and another teacher started talking to me about what i have seen of the country yet, so i said well nothing this trip. So she offered to pick me up on saturday and go for a bush walk with her family or church group....something like that. So i am thinking about it. I don't have anything planned for sat right now....so one can never tell!!!
Well I know i have said it before but i think we might actually be getting the net on friday. We ended up taking our lease into Telstra (phone/internet) and they said they can disconnect the original phone line....and hook our new one up within 48 hours. So hopefully sometime friday we will be able to head down and get the net all up and running.....everyone thing happy thoughts (on your thursday!!!)

It's still hot here, Mom called me this morning (our time) at 6:45am and it was 22 in my room. So most likely a little hotter outside!!! Not that i am trying to rub it in or anything....

Oh yeah here is some news.....well more like gossip....One of the girls in our program that was actaully at our school (Unanderra) has gone home. She left the program after 2 days in it. Her roommates say it was because her boyfriend was going to break up with her if she didn't come home. How silly is that girl.....she now has to pay rent here for the rest of the year, break her mobile contract, and she only gets 80% of her tuition back.....he must be one hell of a guy!!! We are all in shock that she would go home......i mean wow that is just crazy to me!!!
Anyways not nice to gossip....hopefully it is just something like that and not an emergancy (family wise)

Ok well i have rambled on far too long now.....Once we have the net at home i can write more detailed stuff with pics and all!!

Hey All!!!
Well my first week at Unanderra Public School is almost up. It is SO amazing there. A bit of a pain to get there. About 30 mins on bus each direction. But the kids are so cute. They have some wonderful names I would spell them out but i am sure they will lose something in the translation!! Today our teacher's had to leave for a funeral (one of the kindie's teacher's husband passed away suddenly on sunday morning) So Jess and I got to run our class basically on our own. It was great! I am actually thinking i might see if i can do my first prac there (in about 4 weeks or so) The teachers there are so amazing, very helpful and include us in everything, so we know what is happening. The teacher I am working with was actually teaching last year in Alberta on an exchange so that is cool!! She is able to understand things that we say (for the most part)
Other then that nothing really new here, the weather is CRAZY hot right now. We still don't have the internet at home....not too impressed with the whole situation, but what can we do! One day we might have it.
Now that we are settled in, I have started to notice at just how expensive things are here. We went shopping last night for groceries, and we didn't go crazy or anything but some how we were able to spend over $120 on food. Hopefully that is going to last us a long time!!! Maybe i should have gone shopping more often with Mom before I left to get a good idea of prices and things..LOL
